Holiday Volunteering – Yes, There is Time!
For many of us, the holidays represent and ideal time to do some volunteering with your co-workers. A lot of CSR teams get bombarded with last minute requests that become difficult to fulfill. Here’s a quick list with links to volunteering pages which may make things easier for you to help find a good volunteering opportunity.
CVC Members:
Feed My Starving Children. They have mobile food packing options still available and plenty of open slots at any of their 3 permanent locations. See opportunities here.
Bridging. They have opportunities in their warehouse for groups of 5-25 to help support local families with home furnishings. They can also help with dresser builds if your people want to build thing. Check out their opportunities here.
Greater Twin Cities United Way. Lots of opportunities to look at supporting a variety of options for either in-person or remote volunteering. Connect with GTCUW here.
Hands On Twin Cities. Looking for the right in-person, hybrid or skills-based volunteering programs around the holidays? Check out the variety of options that Hands On offers here or connect with them directly to set up your own custom program.
Open Arms. Help pack or deliver medically tailored meals for your neighbors and community members. Check out their options here.
People Serving People. During the holidays, this can be especially a challenging time for families experiencing homelessness. They have lots of ways you can get involved here.
Second Harvest Heartland. Share your time, talents and generosity to help their food bank end hunger. See how you can sign up to help as a group here.
The Link. Support local youth impacted by crime, violence, poverty and housing insecurity/homelessness. They have special holiday-related opportunities and ongoing needs listed here.
Other impactful opportunities to volunteer with your co-workers over the holidays:
Cookie Cart. Purchase cookies for your team events or interact with youth looking to develop skills in customer service, career readiness and financial literacy. Although they may be booked up for group events, there are plenty of ways to get involved over the holidays. Contact them here.
Salvation Army. They do so much good to impact people over the holidays, you and your crew can join their army of bell ringers to improve the lives of others. Ring in the new year right and join in the fun of helping others here.
Meals-On-Wheels. Help in the kitchen or delivering meals to provide nutrition, interaction and independence for seniors who are often isolated during the holidays. Lots of options to help here.
Every Meal. Help support nutrition and food insecurity for the youth in our community. They have volunteering opportunities listed in November and December on their website here.
Secondhand Hounds. Let’s not forget to support our furry (and sometimes not-so-furry friends) during the holidays. Most animal shelters have group volunteering opportunities available, but you can check out Secondhand Hounds programs here.
